A Little Scare... But Better Now

Yesterday, I just felt funny. There was something wrong. I have felt really great the entire 2nd trimester, and here we are almost at 16 weeks.. but then, yesterday i just didn't feel right.

I woke up with this headache, and then i was just getting anxious and shakey real easy. I kept blacking out when i would stand up and i was really upset about stuff, anything really, and snapping at people.

So i went to work because we were moving the lab, and I packed stuff up and stood around doing stuff, up and down stairs, that sort of thing until about 230. But, i started getting this really horrible back ache and the headache got worse and i started getting cramps really low. To the point, that i couldn't really walk very well.

So, I called Sean and we went to the OBGYN triage care (My Dr wasn't in her office- turns out she was there instead on duty) over at Columbia Regional. They got me in immediately, the rooms are really nice there. They had me sit up and they took my BP which was a lot higher than mine usually is (by about 15 mmHg) and then they took it again, still high. So they made me lie down, watch some TV and drink some water. Immediately after laying down, it dropped 20 mmHg in the systolic.

They found baby's heartbeat which took the woman FOREVER. But we had never heard it before, so that was kind of nice. it was about 150 bpm. they checked me out and everything was OK, but they think i just got too stressed out ( i had worked about 11 hours both days before that ) and that raised my BP and caused everything to go awry.

So things are better now, they told me to rest all weekend and begged me not to work , but i have to, of course. We have our next appt on Monday the 8th where they will do the big ultrasound and look at all of baby's systems and make sure everything works properly and we'll definitively know if its a boy or girl.

Sean had his hand on my stomach this morning and i think i finally felt baby move right under his hand, just this little twitching feeling. Kind of cool. I've been waiting for that.
